Orton- Gillingham Phonics Class

The Orton- Gillingham approach is a language-based approach. As part of the remediation process, dyslexic students are taught important facts, rules and generations about the English language. Our English teachers will plan and execute lessons utilizing Orton-Gillingham principles in the remediation of persons with language processing problems associated with dyslexia.

Orton-Gillingham Phonics Class aims at helping the dyslexic students learning letter names, their key words, their letter sounds and the phonetic rules behind. So it will be useful for doing some card drills in every lesson for two to three minutes. We expect to finish all vowels and some consonants this year.

It is believed that phonics can help students to learn more independently and efficiently as they do not need massive guidance from teachers. In the coming year, the Orton-Gillingham training will be offered for all students in school to that all of them can benefit from phonics teaching.

In the lessons, the letter names, the key words, the letter sounds and the grammar rules of the letters will be introduced to students with sets of cards, like the following:

We hope that students can learn phonics better interestingly and independently with this OG trainning.
