 School-Based Drama in English
Curriculum
Studying or
performing drama in English can help you boost your English language
abilities. When you are acting on stage, you can practise speaking English
loudly and listening to others. Of course, you have to study and understand
the scripts well before you act on the stage. Besides, you can also learn to
write a script with your own imagination and creativity. In view of this, our
school has started to implement a “School-Based Drama in English” Curriculum
since last year. Our English teachers have spent a lot of time planning and
preparing for the curriculum which is specially tailored for you, KSK
students, to face challenges ahead with your studies and also in public
examinations.
An English drama
curriculum not only helps students perfect their acting skills, but also
improve their reading and writing skills. In fact, in the near future, Drama
in English will be one of the elective subjects in the New Senior Secondary
curriculum that you may choose to study. Therefore, drama is no longer a
performance or an activity for fun. You can learn a lot from drama
Our drama “Alice
In The Mirror” has got excellent results in HKSDF which is unexpectedly
surprising. We had got five awards. Two Best Outstanding Actors (Chow Man Hin
and Yim Tsz Long), one Best Outstanding Actor (Ng Tsz Ying), one Best
Co-operating Award and one Best Stage Effect Award.

Alice In The
Mirror – Cast and synopsis (P101)
In fact, “Alice
In The Mirror” is only a part of our English Drama Curriculum. Last year,
three school-based drama performances were organized for junior form classes.

Actually our
students are very talented in acting because they can interpret the setting
and characters depicted in a story or a play. In fact everyone can be a good
actor indeed. All we need to do is to pay attention to “details”. For
example, we can observe how a bus driver moves when he is driving and try to
imitate his gesture and facial expression when we play the role of a bus
driver.
This year we will
extend our drama curriculum to all our junior forms students so that they can
all enjoy the happiness, satisfaction and sense of success.

Dorothy and her dog Toto live happily
with Dorothy's aunt until, one day, a great storm whisks Dorothy and Toto,
along with their house, off to a faraway place. The house lands on, and
kills, the Bad Witch of the East, but Dorothy is just eager to get home.
The Good Witch tells her that only the wise old Wizard of Oz is able to get
her back to her family. Dorothy and Toto set off along the yellow road to
the Wizard. They meet a brainless scarecrow, a heartless tin-man and a
cowardly lion on the way and all three decide to ask the Wizard to solve
their problems too. Before the Wizard will grant their wishes, however,
they have to kill the Bad Witch of the West, can Dorothy manage to do it
and make all their wishes come true?

Mulan is a poor
country girl who lives with her parents. One day, her old father is forced
to join the army. Mulan is so worried about her father that she decides to
substitute her father by dressing up as a courageous solider. With the
threat of the devil emperor invading from the west, is Mulan able to stop
the invasion? Can she go back home safely? Will her true identity be
revealed finally?

Bossy Chris promises Miss Yip to become courteous, polite and
helpful after he has been discharged from the hospital. However, this time
he needs to be bossy again as Dr X has taken him and his fellows by the
magical time machine to a place which is full of monsters. Can they escape
from that terrible place? And who is Dr.X actually?

Ling is a poor girl who works in a small farm in
mainland China
. She always dreams to expand her farm but all the men have been recruited
as soldiers so none takes care of her farm. Until one day she meets a
fairy. The fairy leaves a bitten apple for Ling. After Ling has eaten the
apple, she finds that she becomes pregnant suddenly. Her sister, Heung,
helps her to give births to ten babies who possess different mighty
abilities. Ling thinks they can really help to expand her farm so she takes
all her sons to her plantations, though she feels very shocked.
Sing, the only son of General Wong, is so fond of Heung
that he wants to make Heung his wife. However, all the villagers hate him
so much because he is very rude and mean. Are the ten brothers capable to
rescue Auntie Heung?

Fat and Fei are famous MC in TVC. Once again they are
invited by Tung Wah group to hold the charity show as usual. However, this
year all the performers are amateurs .Can they still run the charity show
smoothly? Will anything strange happen during the show?

Moreover, we are
also preparing a entry for the coming Hong Kong School Drama Festival. The
new drama is called “The Perfect Day”. It is an entirely different plot which
is about our school, love, family, friendship, internet, on-line games and
etc.
