:: Ū¡D¼g¡D«äºûp¹º Our School Wide Literacy Programme ::

In the 2004-2005, our school introduced a school wide literacy programme, in both Chinese and English for all junior students.

"Biliteracy", working on similar reading and writing goals in both Chinese and English is an innovative approach in language education worldwide. The programme is based on a model of literacy known as the "Four Resources Model of literacy", where students are given strategies to be "Code-breakers", "Text participants", "Text users" and "Critical thinkers".

The literacy programme aims to simultaneously develop students reading, writing and critical thinking skills using a wide range of materials, including newspapers, stories and advertisements. The programme introduces more complex and interesting learning tasks, to the students, as featured in the new English curriculum being introduced in 2007 by the EMB. We have had positive feedback from students, parents and teachers. We are pleased to have received a Quality Education Fund (QEF) grant to further expand the programme for the coming school year in 2005/2006.
