Collaborations

Collaborations with Academics from University

Our school has implemented two major research projects on literacy. In 2003-2004, we implemented a collaborative project with the Hong Kong Polytechnic University on a ˇ§Genre Approach to the Teaching of Writingˇ¨. Thirty junior and senior secondary students participated in this project.

In 2004-2005, we implemented and evaluated a school wide literacy programme in the Chinese and English Key Learning Areas. Given this experience and expertise, together with the schools established collaborative arrangment with the Polytechnic Unviersity, we believe the current school wide literacy programme is bearing fruits for our next generation.

Professional Development Workshop

On 8 th September 2005 , Dr. Gail Forey from Polytechnic University of Hong Kong was invited to organize a Professional Development Workshop for all our language teachers from both the Chinese and English Departments.

In the workshop, much emphasis has been placed on exploring the teaching strategies across each of the four levels of the model. Teachers from the two departments shared experience in applying the model on literacy teaching and we all gained more insights through a reflective and explorative approach towards language teaching.

Collaboration Meetings

In order to enhance collaborations between our school and professionals from institutions, collaboration meetings have been held once a month to discuss and evaluate the programme.
